The layers were deposited over 100's of millions of years, but as for the canyon itself and the way it is carved (wiiide at the top...present day measly flow at bottom) it is clear 1) more water was needed. "ice age" resssion of the NA ice sheet would have produced MASSIVE flows of water thats why it is wide and deep with sharp errosional features, fantastic deep cuts at the top then a gradual lessening of the dramatic cuts points to large flow tapering off to what it is today. thousand.

If SOPA or any other incarnation of the same idea goes into action, you can forget watching beautiful clips with beautiful music like this on YouTube or anywhere else. Keep the heat on congress. Make them remember who they work for. ...and kick corporate america's greedy influence out of our lives for good!

Amazing all the different layers the river has exposed, millions of years of sediments like the desert sands of the Coconino Sandstone.

The Grand Canyon, after thousands of years in the making, is simply awesome ( in the true sense of the word ). The music choice complements perfectly.
